Two-Port PS/2 KVM Switch

The D-Link KVM-121 lets you operate two computers from a single monitor, keyboard, mouse and speaker set. It connects to each system through detachable six-foot cables ending in PS/2 and VGA plugs. A 3.5 mm stereo jack passes audio from the active computer. The unit draws power from the PS/2 ports so no external adapter is needed.

Thermals Noise And Power

The switch runs silently because it has no fan and consumes only the small current supplied by the host PS/2 ports. Operating temperature is rated from 0 °C to 50 °C with a maximum humidity of 80 % non-condensing. No active cooling or additional power brick is required in normal desktop use.

Build Integration

A single VGA monitor, one PS/2 keyboard, one PS/2 mouse and one set of speakers connect to the console side, freeing desk space that would otherwise hold duplicate peripherals. Two sets of integrated cables reach each computer, eliminating separate cable purchases. The compact 5.5 by 2.4 by 1.1 inch enclosure fits easily on a cluttered workbench or server rack shelf.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the PS/2 keyboard and mouse cables to the console ports on the KVM-121, and which step do people often miss?

Plug each 6-pin Mini-DIN connector into its matching purple keyboard and green mouse port on the switch front, then attach the VGA and 3.5 mm audio cables; the step most often missed is seating both PS/2 plugs fully before powering on the PCs.

What maintenance or replacement will the KVM-121 need over time?

The detachable 6-foot KVM cables can wear at the PS/2 or VGA ends after repeated switching; keep spare cable sets on hand so a bent pin or frayed jacket does not interrupt control of either computer.

At what video resolution limit does the KVM-121 show its constraint during sustained use?

The built-in VGA connector tops out at 2048 x 1536, so driving a higher-resolution monitor will immediately clip the image regardless of how long the session runs.
