Converts a USB port to 12 V for a single 3-pin or 4-pin fan with a 50 cm cable
This cable converts a standard USB port into a 12 V supply for a single 3-pin or 4-pin fan. It is intended for builders who need a simple way to run a case or radiator fan from a motherboard header or powered hub without a dedicated fan controller.
The integrated step-up transformer delivers 12 V but the source port caps available current at .5 A on USB 2.0 or .9 A on USB 3.0. Fans drawing more than the port rating will not spin reliably and may trigger port protection, so only low-power models are suitable.
Verify the fan’s rated amperage stays below the limit of the USB port you plan to use. A 50 cm / 1.6 ft cable length restricts placement to devices near the port, and the single 4-pin connector supports one fan only.

The cable is 50 cm long, which reaches most rear or top fan mounts from a motherboard USB header or rear port.
The built-in transformer steps the USB 5 V supply up to 12 V so a standard 12 V PWM or voltage-controlled fan runs at full speed.
On a USB 2.0 port the adapter is limited to 0.5 A, so the fan must draw 0.5 A or less; on a USB 3.0 port the limit rises to 0.9 A.
