Portable SSD for mobile creators

The DATO ARES Q4 1TB portable SSD in white is built for creators who need fast external storage that attaches directly to a phone. Its magnetic design snaps onto compatible iPhone Pro and Pro Max models for cable-free recording and backup. The drive weighs 40 grams and measures 64 by 64.3 by 12 millimetres. It suits anyone capturing high-bitrate video on the move.

Aluminium shell with magnetic mount

An aluminium enclosure protects the drive from everyday knocks while keeping weight low. The integrated MagSafe-compatible magnet holds the SSD firmly to the back of a supported iPhone, so there is no risk of accidental disconnection during a shoot. A 40Gbps USB-C to C cable and a 10Gbps USB-C to A adapter are included for wired connections to Mac, PC, consoles or other devices. No separate power supply is required.

USB4 Gen 3x2 interface at 40Gbps

The single specification that decides fit is the USB4 Gen 3x2 interface delivering up to 4000 MBps read and 3600 MBps write. This bandwidth enables direct 4K ProRes HDR recording to the drive without a bridge chip. Buyers whose workflow relies on slower USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 or earlier ports will not reach these speeds and should verify their host capability before purchase.
