Protects 3/16 in wire rope loops with 304 stainless steel thimbles, pack of 25
The Dayton 1DLG9 wire rope thimble protects 3/16 in rope eyes from wear and deformation. Made from 304 stainless steel with a plain finish, each piece measures 1 15/16 in overall length by 1 1/8 in overall width. The open-end design suits lifting applications where a closed ferrule is not required. Pack of 25 supports volume rigging work.
This is a passive stainless steel fitting with no moving parts, electronics or power consumption. It generates no heat and produces no audible noise during installation or service. The 304 alloy resists corrosion in marine and industrial environments without additional coatings. Wall thickness of 1/32 in maintains structural integrity under normal lifting loads.
Use these to replace damaged or corroded thimbles on 3/16 in wire rope slings and pendant lines. The inside loop dimensions of 1 7/16 in by 23/32 in match standard hardware sizing for shackles and hooks. The jump is worth it when inspections reveal flattened walls, cracked eyes or heavy surface pitting on current thimbles. Not for ropes larger than 3/16 in or applications requiring certified load ratings beyond the material yield.

Slide the rope through the 1 7/16 in inside loop, form the eye around the thimble, then secure with properly sized wire rope clips; the step often missed is retorquing the clips after the first load cycle.
Inspect each thimble for deformation, corrosion pitting or wear at the 1/32 in wall thickness; replace any piece that shows elongation of the 23/32 in inside width or cracking at the open end.
The 1/32 in wall thickness at the 1 15/16 in overall length yields before the 304 stainless material reaches its corrosion limit, so plastic deformation of the loop is the first failure mode.
