Protective Paper Tape for Polished Surfaces

This 18-inch wide roll extends 100 yards and is designed to shield highly polished metal, glass and plastic during handling or fabrication. The high-grade printable paper carries a latex-based rubber adhesive that releases cleanly after use. It suits workshops, manufacturers and anyone needing temporary surface protection without residue.

Roll Format and Adhesive Behaviour

The tape arrives as a single roll in a case, ready to unroll and apply by hand or with a dispenser. Its rubber adhesive grips firmly at 10 oz/in yet allows easy removal, freeing the user from solvents or scraping. The 4.3 mil thickness conforms to curves while the 3% elongation absorbs slight movement without tearing.

Strength and Temperature Performance

With a tensile strength of 20 lbs/in the tape resists pulling forces during extended masking or transit. It maintains adhesion down to 0 Fahrenheit, so performance holds in unheated spaces or cold-weather shipping. The construction is built for sustained contact rather than brief bursts, keeping surfaces pristine over long periods.

Questions about this item

How long will the 4.3 mil paper backing hold up before it tears under constant tension?

The tape is rated at 20 lbs/in tensile strength, so it resists tearing until the applied force exceeds that limit.

Will the rubber adhesive soften or leave residue if the roll sits in a warm warehouse all day?

The adhesive is rated to withstand temperatures down to 0 °F; above that range the rubber may soften and increase residue risk.

Does the 18-inch width require a specific dispenser or can I use a standard hand-held cutter?

You need a dispenser or cutter that accommodates an 18-inch wide roll; standard desktop models are usually too narrow.
