Dell 12V 3A Power Adapter
This Dell adapter converts AC mains power into a regulated 12 V DC supply rated at 3 A and 36 W. It is intended for devices that require a 5.5 mm × 2.5 mm barrel plug with inner-positive polarity. The unit accepts a worldwide input range of 100–240 V at 50/60 Hz, making it suitable for travel or fixed installations. It ships new with a detachable AC cord and a fixed DC lead.
36 W capacity and headroom
The adapter delivers up to 36 W continuously, so it comfortably powers LED strips such as 5050 or 3528 types, CCTV cameras, small LCD monitors, DVR boxes and similar loads that draw 3 A or less. Because amperage is not forced, it safely replaces older 1 A, 1.5 A, 2 A or 2.5 A units without risk of over-current. It runs out of headroom when the connected load exceeds the 36 W maximum, at which point the overload protection will shut the output down. The total appliance wattage must stay below this limit.
Barrel connector practical limits
The 5.5 mm × 2.5 mm barrel jack is the sole output interface; polarity is fixed with inner positive and outer negative and cannot be reversed. A 5.5 mm × 2.1 mm plug will physically mate but may not maintain reliable contact, so the correct jack size is required. The DC cable length is 94 cm and the AC cord is 120 cm, limiting placement distance from the mains socket and the powered device. No other connector types or voltage selections are provided.
