Refurbished OptiPlex 7040 business desktop

This refurbished Dell OptiPlex 7040 is a small-form-factor desktop aimed at office users who need a compact, reliable Windows 10 Pro machine. It ships with a wired keyboard and mouse so it is ready to deploy. The 180 W power supply and dedicated Radeon graphics card are built into the slim chassis.

Check power, video ports and wireless needs

Verify that the 180 W supply meets the demand of any peripherals you plan to add, as the slim case limits upgrade headroom. Confirm the Radeon R5 340X video outputs match your monitor cables because no adapter is mentioned. The specification lists no wireless card, so a wired Ethernet connection or a separate USB Wi-Fi dongle will be required for network access.

Suits office staff needing a compact Windows 10 PC

This unit suits administrators, call-centre agents or home-office workers who want a space-saving desktop with a quad-core i5-6600, 8 GB DDR4 and a 256 GB SSD for everyday productivity. Buyers who need Wi-Fi built in, a higher-wattage power supply for expansion cards, or a larger storage drive should look at other configurations.

Questions about this item

Does the OptiPlex 7040 include a monitor or do I need to buy one separately?

The listing states "Monitor not included" so you must supply your own display. The box contains the slim desktop, a wired keyboard, a wired mouse and a 180W power supply.

Should I choose the 256GB SSD version or look for a larger capacity?

This unit ships with a single 256GB SSD. If you need more space for large files or applications you would have to add a second drive internally or use external storage.

How will the Radeon R5 340X 2.0GB graphics perform in a typical office workload?

The dedicated 2.0GB card handles multi-monitor productivity, video playback and light 3D tasks comfortably, while the integrated Intel graphics remain available for basic output.
