16-inch touchscreen laptop for professionals

The Dell 16 DC laptop combines a 16.0 inch WUXGA touchscreen with an Intel Core 5 120U 10-core processor and 32GB DDR4 memory. A 1TB PCIe SSD provides fast storage for large workloads. Windows 11 Pro and an Office 2024 licence are pre-installed for immediate productivity.

Thermals and power in daily use

The 10-core design uses two performance cores and eight efficient cores to balance speed with low heat output during typical office tasks. Integrated Intel Graphics shares system memory, keeping power draw modest. The slim 0.79 inch chassis and 4.37 lb weight allow quiet operation on a desk or lap.

Behaviour under sustained load

Turbo frequency reaches 5.0 GHz for short bursts, but extended heavy workloads will throttle to protect thermals within the thin enclosure. The 12 MB Smart cache and 12 threads help maintain throughput during long compiles or data analysis. Buyers needing discrete graphics or higher sustained clock speeds should consider other form factors.

Questions about this item

How do I upgrade the RAM on this 16.0 inch laptop, and what mistake should I avoid?

The 32GB DDR4 memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded, so do not attempt to open the chassis for a RAM swap.

What component will need replacement first on this Intel Core 5 120U system?

The 1TB PCIe SSD is the only user-replaceable part and will likely need replacement before any other internal component.

Which limit appears first during sustained loads on the 10-core processor?

Thermal throttling on the 2 performance and 8 efficient cores activates before the 5.0 GHz turbo can be maintained.
