Dell 255 W PSU for OptiPlex Mini Towers

This 255 watt power supply is built for Dell OptiPlex 960 and 980 mini-tower systems. It replaces the original unit using the correct Dell connector layout. The part is supplied new and matches the 9RD1W part number used in those chassis.

Who this does not suit

Buyers who need a power supply for a small-form-factor or ultra-small-form-factor OptiPlex should look elsewhere. Systems that require higher wattage or a different connector pin-out will not work with this unit. Builders assembling a custom chassis or a non-Dell motherboard cannot use this proprietary design.

Questions about this item

Will the 255 W unit power an OptiPlex 960 mini tower that currently uses a lower-rated supply?

Yes, the 255 W rating matches the original specification for the OptiPlex 960 and 980 mini tower chassis, so it replaces the existing supply directly.

How can I confirm the supply is operating correctly once installed in the OptiPlex 980?

The system should POST normally, the fan should spin, and the operating system should load without unexpected shutdowns under load.
