600 GB 15k SAS Drive with Tray

This Dell 400-ADPE is a 600 GB 15k SAS 2.5 inch internal hard drive supplied with a G176J tray. It is built for Dell PowerEdge and PowerVault systems that accept 2.5 inch SAS drives. The 15k spindle speed targets low-latency transaction workloads. The drive uses a 6 Gbps SAS interface.

Suits Direct-Replacement Upgrades

This drive fits the listed PowerEdge R, T and M servers plus PowerVault MD arrays that take 2.5 inch SAS drives with the G176J tray. It is not for systems that require 3.5 inch drive bays or a different tray format. Buyers who need larger capacity or a different interface should look at other parts.

15k RPM Spindle Speed

The 15k RPM rotation rate is the specification that determines whether this drive meets the latency needs of the workload. Verify that the target server or array supports 15k SAS drives in a 2.5 inch form factor with the G176J tray before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Does the 2.5 inch SAS drive with g176j tray fit a Dell PowerEdge R720 2.5 inch bay?

Yes, the 2.5 inch form factor and included g176j tray match the drive bays in the listed PowerEdge R720 and other compatible 2.5 inch servers.

How do I install the 600 GB 15k SAS drive with g176j tray, and what step is often missed?

Slide the drive into the tray until the connector seats firmly, then insert the assembly into the hot-swap bay until the release lever clicks; the step often missed is not pushing the drive fully into the tray before racking it.

When will the 600 GB 15k SAS drive need replacement under typical server workloads?

Enterprise 15k SAS drives are rated for continuous operation; plan replacement when SMART attributes show reallocated sectors or after the manufacturer's rated service life for the workload.
