Alienware X15 R1 15.6 QHD 240Hz gaming laptop

The Alienware X15 R1 is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop with a 2560 x 1440 QHD display running at 240Hz. It pairs an Intel Core i7-11800H eight-core processor reaching 4.6 GHz with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU carrying 8GB GDDR6 memory. The system ships with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD under Windows 11 Home in a Lunar Light white chassis.

Ports power and physical fit check

Verify that the single HDMI 2.1 output meets your external monitor needs and that the Thunderbolt 4 port with Power Delivery 5V/3A matches your dock or charger plans. The chassis measures 0.626 inches high, 14.16 inches wide and 10.915 inches deep with a starting weight of 5 lb, so confirm your bag or sleeve accommodates those dimensions.

Upgrading from thicker 60Hz machines

This laptop replaces bulkier 15-inch gaming notebooks limited to 60Hz panels and heavier cooling assemblies. The jump is worth it when you need a 240Hz QHD screen and a sub-16mm profile without dropping to integrated graphics. Buyers who want more internal storage or a second GPU should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the Alienware X15 R1 box include a charger and do I need to buy any cables for the Thunderbolt 4 port?

The laptop ships with its power adapter. The Thunderbolt 4 port uses a standard USB-C cable, which is not included, so add one if you plan to connect a dock or external display.

Should I choose the QHD 240 Hz panel or the FHD 165 Hz option for the RTX 3070?

The QHD 240 Hz screen (2560 x 1440) matches the RTX 3070 8 GB GDDR6 well for high-refresh competitive titles, while the FHD 165 Hz variant lowers pixel count for even higher frame rates in esports games.

What does the 4.6 GHz turbo figure mean when the i7-11800H is inside the 15.9 mm chassis?

The 8-core Tiger Lake CPU can hit 4.6 GHz on short bursts, but sustained clocks will be lower because the thin 15.9 mm body limits cooling capacity during long gaming sessions.
