What this power adapter is and who it suits
The Dell ALT-1201 is a 12 V 1 A 12 W AC-to-DC adapter supplied with 14 interchangeable barrel tips. It powers 12 V devices such as LED strip lights, CCTV cameras, routers, external hard drives and keyboards. It is not for equipment that requires 5 V, 19 V, 24 V or any voltage other than 12 V, nor for loads exceeding 1 A.
Check your device before ordering
Verify the equipment label states 12 V DC and a current draw of 1 A or less. Confirm the polarity is centre-positive and the barrel jack matches one of the included tips: 5.5×2.5 mm, 5.5×2.1 mm, 6.5×4.4 mm, 5.5×3.0 mm, 5.0×2.5 mm, 6.3×3.0 mm, 5.5×1.7 mm, 4.8×1.7 mm, 4.0×1.7 mm, 3.5×1.35 mm, 3.0×1.1 mm, 2.5×0.7 mm, Micro-USB, Type-C or the DC terminal connector. Ensure your mains supply is 100-240 V AC at 50-60 Hz.
Behaviour under sustained load
The unit delivers up to 12 W continuously with built-in overload, over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature and short-circuit protection. The manufacturer advises limiting actual draw to 80 % of the rated maximum, so plan for no more than 9.6 W in continuous operation. The 6.2 ft cord allows flexible placement while the adapter runs within its -20 to 60 °C working temperature range.
