Dell NetShelter SX 42U Rack

The Dell NetShelter SX AR3100X717 is a 42U freestanding server rack built to EIA-310-D and EIA-310-E standards. It provides 42 rack units of mounting space in a black enclosure measuring 60x107x199cm. The unit weighs 275kg and supports a load capacity of 1364kg. It carries UL, RoHS and REACH certifications.

Suits dense 19-inch deployments

This rack suits administrators housing standard 19-inch servers, switches and storage arrays in a single freestanding frame. The 1364kg weight rating accommodates heavy multi-node clusters. Buyers needing wall-mount cabinets, outdoor-rated enclosures or depths beyond 107cm should consider other form factors.

Install on level concrete

Installation requires a level floor able to bear the combined 275kg frame weight plus payload. The 60cm width demands adequate aisle clearance for door swing and cable routing. Common issues include insufficient floor levelling causing door misalignment and underestimating the 107cm depth when planning row layouts.

Questions about this item

What floor space must I clear for the 60x107 cm footprint of this 42U rack?

Allow at least 60 cm wide by 107 cm deep of clear floor area; the unit stands 199 cm tall so check ceiling height and door clearances before positioning it.

Will my existing EIA-310-D compliant 19-inch servers mount directly in this enclosure?

Yes, the rack meets both EIA-310-D and EIA-310-E standards, so any 19-inch equipment built to those specs will align with the mounting rails without adapters.

How can I verify the rack is safely loaded after I install my gear?

Confirm the total installed weight stays below the 1364 kg rated capacity, ensure the unit sits level on its feet or casters, and check that side panels and doors close and latch cleanly.
