Dell Latitude 7290 Business Laptop

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a compact business laptop built around a 12.5-inch HD display. It runs on an Intel Core i5-7300u processor at 2.60GHz with 8GB of memory and a 256GB M.2 SSD. Windows 10 Professional 64-bit comes pre-installed. It suits mobile professionals who need a lightweight, managed device for daily office tasks.

Upgrade from older ultraportables

This unit replaces ageing 12-inch ultraportables that struggle with modern multitasking and solid-state responsiveness. The jump is worth it when your current machine cannot keep 8GB of memory or lacks a 256GB M.2 SSD for fast boot and application loads. Buyers who need a larger screen, discrete graphics or user-upgradable memory should look elsewhere.

Sustained office workloads

Under continuous office workloads the Intel HD 620 graphics and dual-core processor maintain steady performance for document editing, web sessions and video calls. The included Dell AC adapter keeps the system powered during long desk sessions. Good battery health supports mobile use between charges. Thermal throttling is not a concern for typical business applications.

Questions about this item

What physical dimensions must a sleeve or bag accommodate for the 12.5-inch chassis?

The laptop has a 12.5-inch screen diagonal; choose a sleeve or bag rated for 12.5-inch ultraportables so the chassis fits without pressure on the display lid.

Which screw or latch must be released first when swapping the M.2 256GB drive, and what is the common mistake?

Remove the bottom cover screws first; the common mistake is prying the cover before every screw is out, which can snap the plastic clips.

When will the 8GB memory need to be upgraded for heavier workloads?

The 8GB is soldered and cannot be upgraded; if workloads exceed available RAM, the only option is to replace the laptop with a model that has more memory.
