Everyday 15.6-inch touchscreen laptop

The Dell Inspiron 3520 is a 15.6-inch laptop with a Full HD touchscreen and an Intel Core i5-1235U processor. It ships with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB solid-state drive. Windows 11 Home in S Mode comes pre-installed. The system targets home and personal use.

Sustained workload on integrated graphics

The 10-core processor runs at a 1.3 GHz base frequency and can reach 4.4 GHz turbo. Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics share system memory and handle light creative tasks. Under continuous load the 3-cell battery and fanless chassis limit peak speeds. Thermal throttling appears after several minutes of heavy multitasking.

Straightforward setup with fixed memory

The laptop arrives fully assembled and boots directly into Windows setup. Memory is soldered to the board so capacity cannot be increased later. The non-backlit keyboard and missing fingerprint reader limit low-light and biometric convenience. Only one HDMI 1.4 port is available for external displays.

Questions about this item

How loud is the fan on the i5-1235U laptop when it runs all day?

The 10-core Intel Core i5-1235U operates at a 1.3 GHz base and 4.4 GHz turbo; the 3-cell battery and 3.65 lb chassis limit sustained heat, so fan noise stays low during typical workloads.

Which cables or peripherals must I already have to use the HDMI 1.4 and USB-A ports?

You need an HDMI 1.4 cable for external displays and standard USB-A cables for the two USB 3.2 and one USB 2.0 ports.

Will my older DDR4 SODIMM modules work if I open this 3520 later?

The system ships with 16GB of DDR4 memory already installed; the board uses DDR4 slots, so compatible DDR4 SODIMMs can be added if a slot is free.
