Dell Inspiron 16 7640 Laptop

The Dell Inspiron 16 7640 is a new 16.0 inch touchscreen laptop built around an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor with 16 cores and up to 5.10 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 2 TB PCIe NVMe SSD, and Windows 11 Pro in an Ice Blue aluminium chassis weighing 4.2 lbs.

Professionals and students needing a portable

This laptop suits buyers who want a 16:10 FHD+ anti-glare touch display with 300-nit brightness, integrated Intel Arc graphics, ThunderBolt 3.2 USB-C, HDMI, two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a microSD reader, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, a fingerprint reader and a backlit keyboard. It is not for buyers who require discrete graphics, user-replaceable memory or storage, or a higher refresh-rate panel.

16 GB soldered LPDDR5X memory

The single specification that decides fit is the 16 GB of non-upgradeable LPDDR5X RAM; if your workload demands more memory capacity or the ability to add modules later, this configuration will not meet that need.

Questions about this item

What are the dimensions and weight of the Dell Inspiron 16 7640 so I can check if it fits my bag?

The laptop weighs 4.2 lbs and features a 16.0 inch display in a 16:10 aspect ratio with a sleek aluminium finish designed for portability.

How do I set up the fingerprint reader on this laptop, and what step do people often miss?

Open Windows Settings, go to Accounts then Sign-in options, select Fingerprint recognition and follow the prompts; the step often missed is registering multiple angles of the same finger for reliable unlocks.

Can the LPDDR5X memory or the 2TB NVMe SSD be upgraded later on this model?

The 16GB LPDDR5X memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded; the PCIe NVMe SSD is replaceable, so storage capacity can be increased by swapping the drive.
