Dell Inspiron 3520 15 laptop

The Dell Inspiron 3520 15 laptop pairs a 10-core Intel Core i7-1255U processor with 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe SSD. It targets professionals and students who need responsive multitasking and ample local storage in a 15.6-inch form factor running Windows 11 Home with Office 2021 included.

Thermals and power profile

The integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics and efficient 12th-generation architecture keep heat output modest during typical office workloads and media playback. Fan activity remains subdued for web browsing and document work, while sustained turbo frequencies up to 4.7 GHz may raise chassis temperature during heavier tasks.

Build and connectivity

The black chassis measures 14.11 by 9.27 by 0.83 inches and weighs 3.65 pounds, offering a rigid feel for daily transport. Ports include two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one USB 2.0 Type-A, HDMI 1.4, a headset jack, a power jack and a multi-format SD card reader, covering common peripherals and external displays without adapters.

Questions about this item

How do I upgrade the memory or storage on this Inspiron 3520, and which screw is most often missed?

Remove the nine base screws, including the short one hidden under the front rubber foot, then lift the clip-on bottom cover to reach the DDR4 SO-DIMM slot and the M.2 PCIe 3.2 slot.

Which component will need replacement first, and what is the part specification?

The 41 Wh internal battery is the only user-replaceable consumable; swap it with a Dell 3-cell lithium-ion pack when run-time drops below useful levels.

What thermal limit appears first during a long heavy workload on the i7-1255U?

The 15 W sustained power ceiling forces the 10-core processor to throttle from 4.7 GHz turbo toward the 1.2 GHz base clock once the cooling saturates.
