Purpose and audience

The Dell Inspiron 3520 is a 15.6 inch laptop built for home and office users who need a responsive Windows 11 Home machine with a large solid-state drive. Its 11th Gen Intel Core i5 processor and 16 GB of DDR4 memory handle everyday multitasking, video calls and document work without friction.

Sustained workload behaviour

The four-core i5-1135G7 runs at a base 2.40 GHz and can reach 4.2 GHz under load, while the integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics share system memory. The 41 Whr three-cell battery and 65 W power supply support typical business hours, though continuous heavy compute will draw the charge down faster than light use.

Build, connectivity and daily use

The carbon-black chassis measures 14.11 x 9.27 x 0.74 inches and weighs 3.6 lb, making it straightforward to carry between desks. A 120 Hz IPS panel at 1920 x 1080 reduces motion blur when scrolling. Ports include one USB 2.0, HDMI, an SD card reader and a headset jack, while 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 handle wireless peripherals and network access.

Questions about this item

How much heat and fan noise should I expect from the i5-1135G7 and 41 WHr battery during an all-day workload?

The 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 runs at a 2.40 GHz base with a 4.2 GHz turbo across 4 cores and 8 threads; the 65 W power supply and 3-cell 41 WHr battery indicate typical ultrabook thermal output.

Which peripherals and cables do I need to supply myself before the laptop is ready to use?

The box includes the 65 W power adapter; you must provide any USB 2.0 devices, HDMI cable, SD cards or headset for the combo jack.

Will my older USB 2.0 accessories and 1080p external monitor work with the HDMI port and single USB 2.0 port?

Yes, the HDMI port drives a 1920 x 1080 external display and the single USB 2.0 port is backward compatible with legacy USB 2.0 peripherals.
