Inspiron 3525 for business and home users

The Dell Inspiron 3525 is a 15.6 inch laptop built around an 8 core AMD Ryzen 7 5825U processor with 16MB cache and a 4.5 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 16GB of DDR4 memory and an 8TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The 120Hz Full HD WVA display and Windows 10 Pro make it suited for office work, study and general productivity.

Thermals noise and 65W power supply

The system uses integrated AMD Radeon graphics and a 65W power adapter to run the 5th Gen Ryzen 7 5825U and 120Hz panel. A 3 cell 41 WHr battery supplies mobile power. Under typical office loads the cooling solution manages heat from the 8 core CPU without a discrete GPU adding extra thermal load.

Velztorm upgrades and port selection

Velztorm opens the manufacturer box to install the 8TB NVMe SSD and verify the 16GB DDR4 configuration before resealing. The laptop provides one USB 2.0 port, one HDMI output, one USB 3.2 Type-C port, an SD card reader and a headphone and microphone combo jack. Bluetooth 5.0 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi handle wireless connectivity.

Questions about this item

How do I upgrade the memory in the Inspiron 3525 and which slot do people install the module in backwards?

The laptop uses 16 GB DDR4 SO-DIMM memory. Open the base cover, align the notch on the module with the key in the slot, and press firmly until the side clips click; the notch is off-centre so the module only fits one way.

What part will need replacement first during the life of this laptop?

The 3-cell 41 WHr battery is the component most likely to require replacement as its capacity drops with charge cycles.

Which limit appears first when the Ryzen 7 5825U runs at 4.5 GHz for extended periods?

The 65 W power supply and shared thermal solution cap sustained turbo performance before the processor reaches its own thermal ceiling.
