Dell Latitude 5420 laptop

The Dell Latitude 5420 is a refurbished business laptop featuring a 14-inch FHD touchscreen display. It runs on an Intel Core i7-1185G7 quad-core processor with 12 MB L3 cache and Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. The system includes 16 GB of memory and a 1 TB NVMe solid-state drive with Windows 11 Pro 64-bit preinstalled.

Suited for mobile professionals needing touch input

This device suits professionals who want a lightweight chassis with touchscreen capability and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity for docks or external displays. Buyers who require a dedicated graphics card for rendering or gaming should consider other options. The integrated graphics use shared system memory rather than discrete video memory.

1 TB NVMe storage capacity

The 1 TB NVMe drive provides the primary storage volume for the operating system, applications and data files. No additional hard drive or secondary SSD is included in the configuration. Users planning large local media libraries or virtual machine clusters should verify this capacity meets their needs.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 1 TB NVMe drive and what step do people miss?

The 1 TB NVMe drive is already installed in the M.2 slot; the step people miss is confirming the drive appears in the BIOS boot order before reinstalling Windows 11 Pro.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16 GB memory and battery need later?

The 16 GB memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded; the internal battery is replaceable but requires removing the bottom cover and disconnecting the cable.

What limit appears first on the Core i7-1185G7 during sustained workloads?

The quad-core Tiger Lake processor hits its thermal ceiling first, causing clock speeds to drop below the 3.0 GHz base frequency under prolonged load.
