This Dell RF511 interface pod replaces bulky KVM cables by converting keyboard, monitor and mouse signals from a server and transmitting them over a single CAT 5 cable up to 32.8 ft. It draws power directly from the server and includes Keep Alive functionality to maintain server operation with or without KVM switch connectivity. The 26-inch pod cable is fully tested and in new condition.

Practical limits of CAT 5 KVM extension

The pod extends server console signals up to 32.8 ft over CAT 5 cabling, so the switch must be placed within that distance. Only one connector is provided on the pod, meaning each server requires its own interface pod. Signal conversion is limited to PS/2 keyboard and mouse plus VGA video; USB or digital video interfaces are not supported by this unit.

What to verify before ordering

Confirm the target server uses PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports and a VGA video output. Ensure a compatible Dell KVM switch is available that accepts CAT 5 links from this pod. Check that the 26-inch pod length reaches the server ports from your rack layout. No additional power adapter is needed because the pod draws power from the server.
