Rugged notebook for field work

The Dell Latitude 5424 is a 14.0" rugged laptop built to withstand harsh environments. It passes MIL-STD 810G testing for durability and reliability in extreme conditions. A 6th Generation Intel Core i5-6300U processor with 2.40GHz base speed and 16GB DDR4 memory handles business applications. Windows 10 Pro provides a familiar enterprise operating system.

Outdoor-readable display and legacy ports

The 1920 x 1080 non-touch WVA screen is designed for outdoor readability in bright sunlight. An integrated webcam supports video conferencing from remote sites. Connectivity includes USB 3.0 with a closeable port door, native RS-232 serial, RJ-45 gigabit Ethernet and HDMI output. Bluetooth 4.2 and Intel dual-band wireless handle peripheral and network links.

Storage and graphics limits

The M.2 1TB PCIe NVMe Class 40 solid-state drive offers fast boot and load times for the operating system and data. Integrated Intel HD 520 graphics drive the internal panel and external displays via HDMI. The dual-core processor and integrated graphics limit performance in heavy compute or 3D workloads. Buyers needing discrete GPU power or additional internal drive bays should consider other form factors.

Questions about this item

Does the M.2 1TB PCIe NVMe Class 40 drive have a rated endurance figure I should plan for?

The drive is a 1TB PCIe NVMe Class 40 solid-state unit; Dell does not publish a terabytes-written rating for this specific Class 40 part.

What thermal ceiling does the Core i5-6300U hit before it throttles during long workloads?

The dual-core i5-6300U runs at a 2.4 GHz base with Intel HD 520 graphics; sustained loads will trigger its standard Intel thermal management once the package reaches its maximum junction temperature.

How loud does the cooling fan get when the laptop runs flat-out all day?

The rugged chassis uses a sealed fan design tested to MIL-STD 810G; under continuous load the fan spins up but stays within the acoustic limits defined for the 14" rugged platform.
