Rugged 14-inch touchscreen laptop for field work

The Dell Latitude 5424 is a new rugged laptop built for professionals who operate in harsh environments. Its 14.0-inch anti-glare touchscreen offers 1920 x 1080 resolution and survives dust, vibration and temperature extremes. An Intel Core i5-8350U processor with UHD 620 graphics handles business applications on Windows 11 Pro. The chassis weighs 5.5000 units and measures 1.750 by 13.660 by 9.630 units.

Mobile workers needing durability not raw speed

This suit field technicians, logistics staff and first responders who prioritise survival over benchmark scores. The integrated graphics and 8GB of DDR4 memory limit 3D rendering, heavy video editing or modern gaming. Buyers who want more storage than the 256GB SSD provides or who require discrete GPU power should look at something else. Upgrading to the 32 GB maximum requires both memory slots.

Single 256GB SSD determines storage capacity

The laptop ships with one 256GB solid-state drive and no hard drive bay. All operating system files, applications and user data must fit inside this single volume. No second internal drive can be added, so external storage or cloud sync becomes necessary for larger datasets. The USB 3.0 Type C port supports power and display output for docked workflows.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 8GB or upgrade to 32GB DDR4?

The laptop ships with 8GB DDR4 in two slots and supports up to 32GB total; add a second module if you run virtual machines or large datasets.

What does the 1.70 GHz i5-8350U actually deliver in daily work?

The quad-core 1.70 GHz processor with UHD 620 graphics handles office apps, web browsing and light creative tasks smoothly; heavier workloads will hit thermal limits.

What can the USB 3.0 Type-C port really do?

The single USB 3.0 Type-C port carries data, power and display output, so you can charge the laptop or drive an external monitor through one cable.
