Business-ready 14.0" Latitude 5480

The Dell Latitude 5480 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-6440HQ quad-core processor running at 2.6 GHz. It comes with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid-state drive. The HD display delivers a 1366 x 768 resolution and integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 handles visual output. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed.

Upgrade from slower storage or less memory

Replacing a traditional hard drive with the fitted NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD cuts boot and application load times dramatically. The 16 GB DDR4 configuration removes the bottleneck common on 8 GB systems when running multiple browser tabs or office suites. The jump is worth it for mobile professionals who need responsive multitasking without waiting for a spinning disk.

Straightforward drive and memory access

The M.2 slot and memory sockets are reachable after removing the base cover, so storage or RAM changes do not require a full teardown. A common issue is forgetting to disable the internal battery in the BIOS before opening the chassis, which can cause a short. The HD panel is non-touch, so there is no digitiser cable to damage during reassembly. Buyers who want a higher-resolution screen or discrete graphics should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the 14.0 inch chassis have an accessible M.2 slot for the 256GB NVMe drive?

The 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD is already installed inside the 14.0 inch Latitude 5480; the slot is internal and not user-accessible without disassembly.

What is the correct order to seat the DDR4 memory and NVMe drive during a clean Windows 10 install?

The 16GB DDR4 is soldered and not removable; the 256GB NVMe drive is pre-fitted, so a clean Windows 10 install only requires booting from USB media.

When will the integrated 530 graphics need a driver update for Windows 11 compatibility?

Intel HD Graphics 530 supports Windows 11; install the latest Intel DCH driver from Windows Update after upgrading from Windows 10 Home.
