Professional 14 laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0 inch business laptop running Windows 10 Pro. It suits office workers and students who need a full-HD display and 32GB of memory for multitasking. The Intel Core i5 7th Gen processor operates at a minimum 2.60GHz clock speed. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks.

Sustained workload behaviour

The 256GB SSD provides fast boot and application loading during extended sessions. 32GB of installed RAM across two slots keeps multiple programs responsive without heavy paging. The non-touch FHD LED screen at 1920 x 1080 remains readable for long periods. Intel HD Graphics 620 manages typical productivity graphics without a discrete GPU.

Pre-purchase checks

Verify that Windows 10 Pro meets your software requirements and support timeline. Confirm the single 256GB SSD capacity covers your storage needs as no hard drive bay is present. Note the moderate cosmetic wear described by the supplier including possible scratches, scuffs or minor cracks. Expansion or SD slot covers may be absent on this unit.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Core i5 2.60GHz get when the Latitude 5490 runs all day?

The Intel Core i5 7th Gen processor and Intel HD Graphics 620 share a compact thermal design; under sustained load the fan spins up audibly but the chassis stays warm rather than hot.

Which cables or docks must I already own to connect monitors and peripherals to this Latitude 5490?

The laptop provides HDMI and USB 3.0 Type-A ports, so you need an HDMI cable for external displays and standard USB-A cables or a USB-A hub for keyboards, mice and drives.

Will my older USB 2.0 flash drives and VGA monitor work with this 14.0" FHD laptop?

Yes — USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices, and a simple HDMI-to-VGA adapter lets the 1920 x 1080 output drive a legacy VGA screen.
