Dell Latitude 5490 14.0-inch business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8350U processor running at 1.70GHz. It comes with 8GB of system memory and a 512GB solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed, and the chassis features a non-touch display in black.

Suits mobile professionals needing a managed

This configuration suits professionals who need a managed Windows 10 Pro environment with solid-state storage for quick boot times and application loading. The integrated graphics and 8GB RAM limit its usefulness for video editing, 3D rendering, or modern gaming workloads. Buyers who want a touchscreen or discrete graphics should look at something else.

512GB SSD determines storage capacity and speed

The single specification that decides fit is the 512GB solid-state drive, which sets both the total storage space available and the read/write performance level for the operating system and files. Users with large local media libraries or heavy virtual-machine requirements will find this capacity restrictive. No larger drive or secondary storage bay is included in this unit.

Questions about this item

Will the 14.0" chassis accept a second internal drive alongside the 512GB SSD?

The specifications list only the 512GB SSD with no HDD and no optical drive, so there is no additional drive bay available.

What is the correct order for inserting the 8GB memory module into the SO-DIMM slot?

Align the notch on the module with the key in the slot, press down firmly until the side clips click, then secure the bottom cover before powering on.

When should the 512GB solid-state drive be replaced to avoid data loss?

Replace the drive if SMART diagnostics report reallocated sectors, if the laptop fails to boot consistently, or if write speeds drop sharply during large file transfers.
