Business-ready 14 inch laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 delivers a 1.60GHz Intel Core i5 8th Gen processor with 32GB memory and a 1TB solid-state drive. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed with a recovery image. The 14.0 inch non-touch display shows 1366 x 768 resolution. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks. Bluetooth and a backlit keyboard support mobile professionals.

Thermals and power in daily use

The low-voltage processor and integrated graphics keep heat output modest during typical office workloads. Fan noise stays unobtrusive for meeting rooms or open-plan offices. Power draw remains low enough for extended battery operation away from a desk. No discrete GPU means fewer thermal spikes under sustained load.

Build quality and daily connectivity

The chassis shows moderate cosmetic scratches or scuffs on bezel and casing with signs of use on keyboard and trackpad. Expansion or SD slot covers may be absent. Screen may exhibit light scratches, up to two dead pixels, or small bruises. Two memory slots allow future upgrades. Certified technician testing verifies functional reliability.

Questions about this item

How do I upgrade the RAM on the Latitude 5490 and which slot do people forget?

The laptop has two memory slots supporting 32GB total; the lower slot under the motherboard is often missed after the top one is filled.

When will the 1TB SSD need replacement and what capacity should I expect?

SSD endurance varies by workload; the drive may deliver between 480GB and 512GB usable space as noted in the specifications.

At what point does the Intel HD Graphics 620 become the bottleneck during long sessions?

Sustained 3D or video encoding loads will hit the integrated GPU limits before the 1.60GHz Core i5 or 32GB RAM are saturated.
