Business laptop for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0 inch business laptop built for professionals who need reliable performance on the move. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5 8350U quad-core processor with 16GB of DDR4 2400 memory. The 256GB SSD provides fast boot and application load times. Integrated graphics handle everyday productivity and video playback.

Memory and storage headroom

Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 2400 RAM across two slots gives comfortable headroom for multitasking with multiple browser tabs, office suites and lightweight virtual machines. The 256GB SSD holds the operating system and a solid working set of documents, but users with large media libraries or multiple virtual machine images will need external storage. Integrated graphics limit 3D workloads to basic rendering and video decode.

Display resolution decides fit

The 1366 x 768 non-touch panel determines whether this unit suits your workflow. Text clarity and on-screen workspace are adequate for email, documents and web apps, but the pixel density falls short for detailed design, multi-window coding or high-DPI content review. Buyers who need more screen real estate or sharper visuals should look elsewhere.
