Dell Latitude 5490 14" Business Laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U processor running at 1.90 GHz. It comes with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. The 14.0-inch display offers a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution on a non-touch panel. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visual output. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

Who This Suits and Who Should Look Elsewhere

Mobile professionals needing a compact 14-inch chassis with quad-core performance and fast NVMe storage will find this configuration practical. The 15W processor and integrated graphics suit office applications, video calls and multi-monitor setups via HDMI and USB-C DisplayPort. Buyers who want more storage capacity or a dedicated graphics card for heavy rendering or gaming should look at other models. Systems requiring a touchscreen or a higher-wattage CPU are not addressed by this unit.

Deciding Specification: 15W Quad-Core U-Series CPU

The Intel Core i7-8650U is a 15-watt quad-core processor with eight threads and 8MB cache. This thermal envelope defines the sustained performance available in the slim 14-inch form factor. It delivers enough speed for typical business workloads and long battery life but cannot match the raw throughput of higher-power H-series chips. If your workflow demands continuous maximum CPU performance, this 15W design is the limiting factor.
