Business laptop for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14-inch laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor running at 1.90 GHz with 8MB cache. It includes 16GB DDR4 memory and a 128GB M.2 SATA SSD. The 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display, integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620, HDMI and USB-C video outputs, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 wireless, webcam, and Windows 10 Pro complete a configuration built for office productivity on the move.

Upgrade from slower dual-core or HDD systems

Replacing a dual-core ultrabook or a hard-drive laptop with this quad-core, 15W chip and solid-state storage yields noticeable gains in multitasking responsiveness and boot or application load times. The jump is worth it when daily workloads involve multiple browser tabs, Office suites, and frequent travel where the slim chassis and efficient processor extend battery runtime between charges.

Suits travellers needing native video ports

This unit fits professionals who value built-in HDMI and VGA for meeting-room projectors, a USB-C DisplayPort connection, and the familiarity of Windows 10 Pro without an immediate upgrade requirement. Buyers who want more storage capacity, a touchscreen, discrete graphics for creative rendering, or a newer Windows release should look at other configurations.
