Refurbished 14-inch business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a refurbished 14.0-inch Windows 10 Pro laptop built for office mobility. It runs a dual-core Intel Core i5-7300U processor backed by 16GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. The HD panel shows 1366 x 768 resolution.

Suits mobile workers; not for high-res

This unit suits professionals who need a light, managed device for document work, email and web apps on the move. Buyers who want a sharper screen than 1366 x 768 or who need to drive more than two external displays from a single dock should look elsewhere.

Dual-core i5-7300U with 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD

The Intel Core i5-7300U dual-core CPU, 16GB memory and 256GB SSD combination determines whether this Latitude 5490 matches your workload. Three USB 3.1 ports, one HDMI and one VGA port handle standard peripheral and dual-display setups.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the i5-7300U get when the Latitude 5490 runs all day?

The dual-core processor is designed for thin-and-light business chassis, so fan speed stays modest and palm-rest temperatures remain comfortable during extended office workloads.

What must I already own to use the VGA and HDMI outputs on this 5490?

You need external monitors or a projector with matching VGA or HDMI inputs, plus the appropriate cables for each port.

Will my existing USB 3.1 peripherals work at full speed with the three USB 3.1 ports on this laptop?

Yes, the three USB 3.1 ports are backward compatible, so current USB 3.1 drives, docks and accessories will operate at their rated speeds.
