Built for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a 12.5-inch laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor running at 1.9 GHz. It ships with Windows 10 Home, 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1366 x 768 HD non-touch display. The compact chassis suits frequent travellers and client-facing roles.

Connectivity and expansion

Two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI output and a Thunderbolt USB-C port handle peripherals and external displays. Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 4.2 provide wired and wireless networking. A microSD card reader adds removable storage. The Thunderbolt interface enables high-speed docks or additional screens without using the HDMI port.

Capacity and headroom

The 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD offers fast boot and application loading for core business software and documents. The 8 GB DDR4 allocation handles typical office multitasking and video calls. Demanding creative workloads, large local databases or modern gaming will exceed the integrated graphics and limited storage headroom. Buyers needing extensive local media libraries or discrete GPU performance should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the Core i7-8650U throttle under sustained load?

The quad-core processor runs at 1.9 GHz base speed; under continuous heavy work it will drop to lower clocks to stay within its thermal envelope.

How loud or hot does the 12.5" chassis get during all-day use?

Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and the efficient 8th-gen chip keep heat modest; the fan is audible only during prolonged high CPU demand.

What ports and cables must I already have to use the Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI outputs?

You need a Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C cable for the Type-C port and a standard HDMI cable for the full-size HDMI port to drive external displays.
