Compact business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a 12.5-inch notebook built for professionals who need a lightweight Windows 11 Pro machine. It combines an 8th-generation Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB PCIe M.2 SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display.

Suits mobile workers, not heavy creators

This configuration fits travellers and office users who value a small footprint, long battery life and quick boot times. Buyers who want more storage, a dedicated graphics card, a larger screen or a touchscreen should look at something else. The fixed 16 GB memory also limits future upgrades.

Quad-core i7-8650U with integrated graphics

The processor runs at a 1.9 GHz base frequency and can reach 4.2 GHz with Turbo Boost across four cores and eight threads. Paired with Intel UHD Graphics 620, it handles typical business workloads and light multitasking. Demanding 3D rendering or modern gaming will exceed its capabilities.

Questions about this item

Will the 16 GB DDR4 memory need replacement or can it be expanded later?

The system ships with 16 GB as two 8 GB DDR4 modules filling both slots, so any future upgrade requires replacing the existing sticks rather than adding to them.

What performance limit appears first when the i7-8650U runs at its 4.2 GHz turbo for extended periods?

The 12.5 inch chassis and integrated UHD Graphics 620 share a tight thermal envelope, so sustained turbo clocks are capped by cooling capacity before power or memory bandwidth become bottlenecks.

How loud and hot does the laptop get when left on all day with typical office workloads?

With the low-power quad-core processor and no discrete GPU, fan noise stays low and surface temperatures remain moderate during continuous business use.
