Compact business ultraportable

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a 12.5-inch Windows 11 Pro laptop built around an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with Intel UHD Graphics 620. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory in a 4 GB x 2 configuration and a 256 GB PCIe M.2 SSD. The non-touch FHD panel runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Best for mobile office work

This notebook suits professionals who need a light 2.69 lb chassis, integrated graphics and a full set of modern ports including USB 3.0, USB Type-C with DisplayPort and Bluetooth 4.1. Buyers who want more storage than 256 GB, a discrete GPU, a touchscreen or user-upgradable memory should look at something else.

Check your workflow needs

Verify that 8 GB of soldered DDR4 and a single 256 GB M.2 slot meet your application and file-storage requirements. Confirm that Intel UHD Graphics 620 covers the external-display resolutions you plan to drive over the USB-C DisplayPort output. Ensure Windows 11 Pro and the 1.9 GHz base clock with 4.2 GHz turbo align with your software baseline.

Questions about this item

Does this Latitude 7290 need an external monitor or dock to run its 12.5" 1920x1080 FHD panel?

No. The built-in 12.5-inch FHD screen runs at 1920 x 1080 natively, so the laptop works fully on its own without any extra display hardware.

Will my existing Bluetooth 4.1 headset pair with the Intel Dual Band Wireless on this i7-8650U model?

Yes. The system includes Bluetooth 4.1, so a Bluetooth 4.1 headset will connect directly without an adapter.

How can I confirm the i7-8650U is hitting its 4.2 GHz turbo speed after I set up Windows 11 Pro?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, choose CPU and watch the clock speed while running a heavy single-thread load; it should rise toward 4.2 GHz when thermal headroom allows.
