This 12.5-inch Dell Latitude 7290 is a compact business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U processor running at 1.9 GHz. It comes equipped with 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. The system runs Windows 10 Pro and features integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 on a 1366 x 768 HD display.

Suits mobile professionals.

The lightweight 12.5-inch form factor suits professionals who travel frequently and need multiple connectivity options including HDMI, USB 3.0, and a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port. Buyers who require a higher resolution display, a touchscreen, or discrete graphics for intensive visual workloads should look at other models.

1366 x 768 non-touch display decides fit

The 1366 x 768 HD non-touch screen is the specification that determines whether this laptop matches your workflow. If you need sharper text, wider viewing angles, or touch input for presentations, this panel will not meet those requirements. For standard office applications and external display use via HDMI, the screen is adequate.

Questions about this item

Does the i7-8650U throttle under sustained full load?

The quad-core 1.9 GHz CPU runs with integrated UHD 620 graphics; sustained workloads will hit thermal limits before the 32 GB DDR4 or 512 GB NVMe storage become bottlenecks.

How loud and hot does the 12.5" chassis get during all-day use?

Fan noise rises under continuous load but the aluminium unibody spreads heat; the 1366 x 768 panel and efficient 1.9 GHz processor keep surface temperatures manageable for lap use.

Which peripherals must I already own to use the Thunderbolt port and external displays?

A Thunderbolt 3 dock or USB-C monitor cable is required for the USB-C port; an HDMI cable is needed for the full-size HDMI output.
