A 14-inch Windows 11 Pro ultrabook with a quad-core i5-8350U, 32 GB DDR4 2133 memory and a 512 GB SSD
Model i5 32GB/512GB W11P
The Dell Latitude 7400 ships new with Windows 11 Pro, a 14.0" 1920 x 1080 non-touch display, an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor, 32GB DDR4 2133 memory and a 512GB M.2 2242 SSD. Both memory slots are occupied, so the 32GB capacity is fixed at the factory maximum. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics handles everyday office workloads and external displays via HDMI or Thunderbolt. The 65-watt AC adapter is included.
Replacing a dual-core system with 8GB or 16GB of RAM removes the bottleneck that stalls multitasking across browser tabs, Office apps and video calls. The jump is worth it when your current laptop throttles during sustained workloads or cannot drive a second monitor at 1080p. If you already run a quad-core CPU with 32GB of memory and a fast SSD, the upgrade adds little practical benefit.
The single M.2 2242 socket caps internal storage expansion at 1TB, so users needing larger local datasets must rely on external drives. Thunderbolt 3 provides DisplayPort video and high-speed data, yet the 4-lane PCIe bandwidth ceiling limits external GPU enclosures to reduced performance. Memory cannot be expanded beyond the soldered 32GB maximum.

Other versions of this model
The ultrabook measures 14.0 inches diagonally and weighs between 3 and 3.9 lbs.
Remove the base cover, insert the drive into the M.2 2242 slot at an angle, then secure it with the retention screw; many forget to reinstall the screw and the drive lifts.
The 65-watt adapter typically lasts several years; replace it if the cable frays or the laptop stops charging. The soldered 32GB DDR4 2133 memory is not user-replaceable.
