Latitude 7420 14-inch business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7420 is a 14.0-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i7-1165G7 quad-core processor with 4.70 GHz turbo frequency, 16GB of memory and a 128GB SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Pro on a 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display and uses integrated graphics. The carbon-fibre chassis weighs from 1.22 kg. It suits mobile professionals who need a compact, managed Windows device for office applications and video calls.

Check ports, storage and OS needs

Verify that two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, HDMI 2.0 and a uSD 4.0 card reader cover your peripheral and display connections. The 128GB SSD offers limited space for large local datasets, so confirm cloud or external storage is available. An optional uSIM slot supports WWAN models only. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed with a free Windows 11 upgrade path when available.

Thermals, noise and power in normal use

The slim carbon-fibre design at 17.27 mm height relies on internal cooling for the 4.70 GHz turbo processor during typical office workloads. Fan noise stays low during document editing, web browsing and video conferencing on integrated graphics. Thunderbolt 4 ports accept compatible power adapters for charging while in use. Sustained heavy compute tasks will raise surface temperatures and fan speed within the thin chassis.
