Business-ready 14-inch touchscreen laptop

The Dell Latitude 7420 is a 14-inch notebook built around an 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor running at 3.0 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of memory and a 256 GB NVMe solid-state drive. The 1920 x 1080 FHD touchscreen, integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, webcam and backlit keyboard support mobile professionals who need a responsive Windows 11 Pro device for daily productivity.

Thermals and power in normal use

The low-power Intel Core i7-1185G7 and integrated Iris Xe graphics keep heat and fan noise modest during typical office workloads such as document editing, video calls and web browsing. The included AC adapter supplies sufficient power for operation and charging without requiring an oversized brick. Under sustained heavy compute the chassis will warm up, but normal business use stays quiet and cool.

Build integration and expandability

The 256 GB NVMe drive handles the operating system and core applications, while cloud storage or external drives can supplement capacity for larger media libraries. A full set of modern ports — not detailed here — allows connection to external monitors, wired networks and peripherals so the laptop can serve as a compact desk hub. Buyers who need a second internal drive bay or discrete graphics for intensive 3D work should look elsewhere.

The memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded or replaced; only driver updates apply.

What limit appears first on the i7-1185G7 under sustained load?

Thermal throttling activates once the CPU reaches its temperature ceiling during prolonged workloads.
