Latitude 7480 14-inch business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14-inch business laptop built around a 6th generation Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor running at 2.6GHz. It comes with 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB M.2 SATA SSD. The 14.0-inch non-touch display delivers a 1920 x 1080 Full HD picture driven by integrated Intel HD Graphics 520. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed.

Mobile professionals needing legacy ports

This unit suits travellers and client-facing staff who value the built-in HDMI port, three USB 3.0 ports and a single Thunderbolt 3 USB-C connection for docks or external displays. Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 cover wired and wireless needs. Buyers who need a touchscreen, a discrete graphics card or a newer processor generation should look elsewhere.

Single Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port

The laptop provides exactly one Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, which is the only USB-C connection on the chassis. That port handles data, video output and charging, so users who require multiple simultaneous USB-C devices will need a dock or hub.

Questions about this item

How do I install the M.2 SATA SSD in the 7480, and what step do people miss?

Remove the base cover, insert the drive at an angle into the M.2 slot, secure it with the single screw, then reinstall the cover; the step often missed is tightening that screw before closing the case.

What maintenance or replacement will the 512GB M.2 SATA SSD need later?

The SSD has no moving parts and requires no scheduled maintenance; replace it only if capacity runs out or SMART data reports wear.

What limit appears first on the i7-6600U under sustained load?

The dual-core 2.6GHz processor with Intel HD Graphics 520 will hit thermal throttling before the 32GB DDR4 or 512GB SSD become bottlenecks.
