Dell Latitude 7480 14-inch business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6600U processor with 8GB of DDR4 memory. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and a 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD for fast boot and load times. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display.

Mobile professionals needing Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI

This unit suits travelling professionals who need a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port for docks or external storage and an HDMI output for projectors or displays. Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 cover wired and wireless connectivity. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a discrete GPU or more than 8GB of RAM should look elsewhere.

256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD decides storage speed

The single specification that determines fit is the 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD, which sets both capacity and transfer performance for the operating system and applications. If your workload requires a larger drive or a second internal slot, this configuration will not meet that need.

Questions about this item

What size and interface does the internal SSD use so I can confirm a replacement fits?

The laptop ships with a 256 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 drive; any single-sided M.2 2280 NVMe module will fit the slot.

Which screw or latch secures the M.2 drive and is often missed during installation?

A single M2 × 3 mm screw holds the NVMe SSD in place; forgetting to reinstall it lets the drive lift and lose contact.

When will the 8 GB DDR4 memory need upgrading and what is the maximum supported?

8 GB is soldered and cannot be expanded; plan on a new laptop once workloads regularly exceed the available memory.
