Compact business laptop for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0 inch non-touch laptop built around a dual-core Intel Core i7-6600U processor running at 2.6 GHz with 4MB L2 cache. It ships with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid-state drive. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the 1920 x 1080 FHD display. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed with a Windows 11 Pro upgrade path noted. Connectivity includes three USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port, one Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, a microSD card reader and a webcam.

Upgrade from slower storage or older ultraportables

Replacing a traditional hard drive with the NVMe SSD cuts boot and application load times while reducing power draw. The 6th generation Core i7 improves responsiveness over earlier dual-core ultra-low-voltage chips in office workloads and light multitasking. Thunderbolt 3 adds a single-cable path to external monitors, storage or docks that legacy USB-A cannot match. The jump is worthwhile when your current machine feels sluggish on web apps, large spreadsheets or frequent docking cycles.

Check power, memory limits and display expectations

Verify that the included charger matches the barrel or USB-C power input on your unit before relying on it for travel. The 8GB DDR4 configuration is soldered and not user-expandable, so confirm that capacity suits your typical tab count and virtual-machine needs. The panel is a non-touch FHD LCD graded B, meaning visible wear such as pressure marks or uneven backlight may be present; buyers who need a pristine screen or touch input should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the 14.0 inch chassis accept a standard 2.5 inch drive or only the M.2 NVMe SSD?

The laptop ships with a 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD and has no 2.5 inch bay, so only M.2 storage fits.

How is Windows 10 Home activated after the clean install, and what step is often missed?

The licence is tied to the motherboard firmware; connect to the internet once and activation completes automatically.

Will the 8GB DDR4 memory need to be replaced, or can it be expanded later?

The 8GB DDR4 is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded or replaced by the user.
