Business laptop for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch FHD notebook powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor running at 1.90 GHz with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.20 GHz. It ships with 8GB of DDR4 2400 memory and a 256GB solid state drive. Windows 10 Home 64 bit is pre-installed and the display is a non-touch anti-glare panel at 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Upgrade from older dual-core ultrabooks

This model replaces systems built around earlier dual-core U-series chips where the jump to four cores and 8MB cache shortens compile times and multi-app workflows. The 256GB SSD and 8GB DDR4 2400 memory raise the floor for responsive multitasking compared to mechanical drives or 4GB configurations. Buyers who need more storage or a dedicated GPU should look elsewhere.

Check power and memory limits before ordering

The unit includes a 65W AC adapter and a 4-cell 60WHr battery; verify that your docking station or travel charger can supply 65W over the same connector. Memory is soldered at 8GB DDR4 2400 with no user-accessible slots, so the capacity cannot be increased after purchase. The chassis lacks an optical drive and the display is specified as 1280 x 1024 in one data field, so confirm the 1920 x 1080 panel meets your external monitor scaling needs.
