DELL Latitude 7490 business laptop

This 14.0 inch laptop ships new with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. An Intel Core i7 8th Gen 1.90 GHz processor and 8 GB DDR4 memory drive daily productivity. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory for the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. A 512 GB SSD provides the primary storage.

Suits mobile professionals needing a light 14 inch

The 3.1 kg magnesium-alloy frame fits briefcases and airline trays. Dual memory slots allow expansion to 32 GB DDR4 when workloads grow. HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort over USB Type-C support external monitors. Buyers who want a dedicated GPU, a touchscreen or more than 512 GB of factory storage should look elsewhere.

512 GB SSD defines the storage ceiling

The single solid-state drive holds the operating system, applications and data with no secondary bay available. 8 GB DDR4 is soldered in one slot leaving one slot free for upgrades up to the 32 GB maximum. Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac dual-band wireless and Bluetooth 4.1 handle wired and wireless connectivity.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 512 GB SSD in the 7490, and which step is often missed?

The 512 GB SSD is already fitted from the factory; there is no separate drive installation step.

What maintenance or replacement will the 7490 need later?

The internal lithium-ion battery will eventually lose capacity and require replacement; the 8 GB DDR4 memory can be expanded to 32 GB using the second slot.

What limit appears first on the 7490 during sustained heavy workloads?

The Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory, so graphics-intensive tasks hit the 8 GB RAM ceiling before the i7-8650U processor reaches its thermal ceiling.
