Business ultraportable

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine. It runs on an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with a base frequency of 1.90 GHz and a maximum turbo of 4.20 GHz. The system includes 16GB of DDR4 2400 memory and a 512GB M.2 2280 SATA solid state drive. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics drive the 1920 x 1080 anti-glare display.

Mobile workers not gamers

This configuration suits mobile workers who value a 1.4 kg chassis, a backlit dual-pointing keyboard and 802.11ac wireless connectivity for office applications and video calls. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance for rendering or gaming should look elsewhere. The non-touch screen and lack of an optical drive also limit use cases that require pen input or local disc media.

512GB SATA SSD

The 512GB M.2 2280 SATA solid state drive is the specification that decides fit. It offers fast boot and application loading for general productivity, but it uses the SATA interface rather than a faster protocol. Verify that your workflow and any imaging process are compatible with this drive type before purchasing.

Questions about this item

What type of RAM slot does the Latitude 7490 use so I can confirm my existing DDR4 modules are compatible?

The laptop uses DDR4 2400 memory; the 16 GB installed is soldered and not user-replaceable, so additional modules cannot be added.

Will the Intel UHD Graphics and 802.11ac Wi-Fi work with my older 1080p monitor and 802.11n router?

Yes, the HDMI output drives a 1920 x 1080 external display, and the Intel Dual-Band Wireless-AC 8265 card is backward compatible with 802.11n networks.

How can I verify the i7-8650U is hitting its 4.20 GHz turbo and the 512 GB SSD is recognised at full capacity?

Open Task Manager's Performance tab to watch the CPU clock reach 4.20 GHz under load, and check Disk Management to confirm a 512 GB partition on the M.2 2280 SATA drive.
