Latitude 7490 14″ touchscreen business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14-inch touchscreen laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U processor at 1.90 GHz with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit pre-installed and features Intel UHD Graphics 620 using shared system memory. The magnesium-alloy chassis includes a 1920 x 1080 anti-glare display with an integrated HD webcam.

Check memory slots and port needs before ordering

The system has two memory slots supporting up to 32 GB of DDR4, so you can add a module later if 8 GB feels tight. Connectivity includes HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort over USB Type-C, three USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports (one with PowerShare), Gigabit Ethernet, an SD 4.0 card reader and a universal audio jack. There is no optical drive and the battery is guaranteed to hold a charge.

Suits mobile professionals wanting a durable

This Latitude fits users who value a compact 14.0-inch touchscreen, a full-size keyboard with a track stick and a lightweight 3.11 kg magnesium frame for travel. Buyers who want more storage than 512 GB, a discrete graphics card or a higher-resolution display should look at something else.

Questions about this item

Does the box include anything beyond the laptop, Windows 10 Pro and the power adapter?

The package contains the Latitude 7490, a pre-installed Windows 10 Pro 64-bit operating system and the power adapter. No manual, external mouse or other accessories are supplied.

Should I choose the 8 GB DDR4 configuration or plan to upgrade to the 32 GB maximum?

The unit ships with 8 GB DDR4 across two slots. If your workload involves heavy multitasking or virtual machines, adding a second module up to the 32 GB limit will help; otherwise the factory 8 GB is adequate for typical office tasks.

How does the Intel UHD Graphics 620 with shared memory perform on the 14.0 inch 1920 x 1080 touchscreen?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses system RAM and drives the 14.0 inch 1920 x 1080 touch panel smoothly for desktop work, video playback and light creative apps; it is not suited for modern 3D gaming or GPU-intensive rendering.
