Business ultraportable with touch display

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch Full HD touchscreen laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor running at 1.9 GHz. It comes with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe PCIe solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed for immediate deployment in managed environments.

Step up from dual-core ultrabooks

This configuration replaces older dual-core ultraportables that struggle with concurrent business workloads. The four cores and eight threads handle virtualisation, heavy spreadsheets and multiple video streams without queueing. The jump is worth it when daily tasks include Docker containers, large workbook recalculation or driving an external monitor over HDMI while the internal panel stays active.

Sustained output within a 15 W envelope

Under continuous load the processor remains inside its 15 W thermal design power, so clock speeds settle to a steady all-core frequency rather than spiking briefly. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares the same thermal budget, limiting 3D throughput during long render or encode sessions. Surface temperatures stay comfortable for lap use, and fan noise remains low in typical office ambient conditions.
