Mobile ultrabook for professionals

The Dell Latitude 7490 7000 series is a 14.0" Full HD ultrabook built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor running at 1.9 GHz with 8 MB cache. It ships with 8 GB DDR4 memory, a 256 GB SSD and Windows 11 Pro pre-installed. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS non-touch panel.

Connectivity and expansion

Three USB 3.1 Gen1 ports are provided, one supporting PowerShare for charging devices while the laptop sleeps. A single USB Type-C connector carries DisplayPort video output alongside an HDMI port for external displays. Wireless links use Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 4.1 for peripheral and network connections.

Suited to office mobility, not heavy graphics

This configuration fits professionals who need a light 14-inch chassis with solid business connectivity and a quad-core processor for multitasking. Buyers who want discrete graphics performance, larger storage capacities beyond 256 GB, touchscreen input or higher wireless speeds should look at alternative models.

Questions about this item

Can the 8 GB DDR4 memory be expanded later?

The system supports up to 32 GB of DDR4 memory, so the 8 GB installed can be increased by adding compatible modules.

What thermal limit appears first when the Intel Core i7-8650U runs at its 4.20 GHz turbo for long periods?

The processor will throttle once it reaches its maximum junction temperature, reducing clock speed to stay within safe thermal limits.

How loud is the fan and what is the power draw when the laptop runs all day?

The cooling fan spins up under sustained load but remains at a low audible level; the 65 W adapter supplies enough power for the i7-8650U and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 during continuous use.
