Dell Latitude 7490 14" Ultrabook

This new Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch ultrabook powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor running at 1.7 GHz. It comes with 8 GB DDR4 RAM, a 512 GB SSD and a 1920 x 1080 IPS non-touch display. Windows 11 Pro is installed and ready to use.

Suits mobile professionals needing a lightweight

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles office applications and video playback but is not built for gaming or intensive 3D work. The 8 GB memory is soldered and cannot be expanded beyond the factory configuration. Buyers who require a touchscreen, dedicated graphics or user-upgradable memory should consider other options.

512 GB SSD and 8 GB DDR4 define the storage

The single 512 GB solid-state drive sets the total local capacity and the 8 GB DDR4 RAM fixes the multitasking headroom. Both are integrated into the mainboard so neither can be swapped or enlarged after purchase. Verify these figures match your workload before ordering.

Questions about this item

Will the USB 3.1 Gen1 ports and HDMI output work with my older USB 3.0 devices and external monitor?

Yes. USB 3.1 Gen1 is backwards compatible with USB 3.0 and 2.0 peripherals. The HDMI port supports external displays up to 1920 x 1080 resolution.

How can I confirm the i5-8350U is reaching its 3.60 GHz turbo speed under load?

Open Task Manager in Windows 11 Pro, select the Performance tab, and watch the CPU frequency while running a demanding task. It should show speeds up to 3.60 GHz on the 4 cores.

Does the box include a USB-C to HDMI adapter or only the laptop and charger?

The shipment includes the Latitude 7490 laptop and its AC adapter. A USB Type-C to HDMI or DisplayPort adapter is not included and must be purchased separately.
