Latitude 7490 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0" business laptop built around an Intel Core i7-8650U processor running at 1.90GHz. It ships with 16GB of memory, a 500GB solid-state drive and Windows 10 Pro pre-installed. The unit includes a functional battery, an AC adapter and integrated wireless networking.

Sustained workload behaviour

The 1.90GHz quad-core processor maintains steady performance during typical office workloads such as document editing, web browsing and video conferencing. The 16GB memory allowance keeps multiple business applications responsive without excessive paging to the 500GB SATA drive. Thermal management is designed for thin-and-light chassis constraints during extended use.

Installation notes and common issues

Windows 10 Pro is already installed and activated, so the laptop is ready to use after the initial out-of-box setup. Driver updates are delivered through Windows Update or the Dell support site using the service tag. Buyers who need more storage than the single 500GB drive provides should plan for external or cloud-based expansion.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Core i7-8650U get when the Latitude 7490 runs all day?

The 1.9 GHz processor is an ultra-low-voltage part, so the 7490 stays cool and the fan runs quietly even under sustained office workloads.

What must I already own to use the 500 GB SATA drive and 16 GB of memory?

Nothing extra — the drive and memory are installed and the AC adapter is included, so the laptop is ready to run Windows 10 Pro out of the box.

Will my older USB-A peripherals and external monitor work with this 14-inch Latitude?

Yes, the 7490 keeps full-size USB-A ports and video output, so existing keyboards, mice and displays connect without adapters.
