14-inch business laptop with i7-8650U

This 14.0-inch Latitude 7490 runs Windows 11 Pro on an Intel Core i7 8th Gen quad-core processor at 1.90 GHz. It ships with 16GB of DDR4 2400 memory and a 512GB 2280 solid-state drive. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics handle the 1280 x 1024 non-touch display.

Suited for office work; not for heavy graphics

The configuration fits professionals who need a lightweight machine for documents, web apps and video calls. Buyers who want more storage, a dedicated GPU for rendering or gaming, a touchscreen panel or a higher-resolution display should look at something else.

Quad-core i7-8650U at 1.90 GHz with 16GB DDR4

The processor provides four cores and eight threads at a base frequency of 1.90 GHz, paired with 16GB of DDR4 2400 memory. This combination decides whether the laptop can run your daily workload without slowing down.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 2400 MHz DDR4 memory modules, and what slot orientation do people often get wrong?

Align the notch on the DDR4 module with the key in the SO-DIMM slot, press firmly until the side clips click, and verify the 16 GB total appears in BIOS.

Which component in this 7490 will need replacement first, and what capacity should I order?

The 512 GB 2280 solid-state drive is the primary wear item; replace it with another 2280-form-factor SSD when health monitoring reports low remaining life.

What limit appears first when the quad-core i7-8650U runs sustained workloads?

The processor reduces its operating frequency once the thermal envelope is reached, lowering performance until temperatures drop.
